Lorene Tranby
Lorene Tranby, age 82, of McIntosh, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 5th, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in McIntosh with Rachel Roggenbuck, SAM officiating. Interment will be in Our Savior’s Cemetery, McIntosh. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Lorene Adele (Goodwin) Tranby born November 10th, 1943 to Mildred A. (Knutson) and John L. (Les) Goodwin in McIntosh, MN. She graduated from McIntosh High in 1962. She was united in marriage to Dennis Ekeberg in 1964, together they had two children, Chad and Brenda.
In 1987 she was married to Todd Tranby and from that marriage she gained two children, Erik and Elizabeth. Through the years Lorene owned and operated Riverside Board and Care. After selling Riverside, she continued her service to others by working in activities at Mac Manor for a number of years. She was an active member at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, teaching vacation bible school and Thursday release school. She was a member of the McIntosh VFW Auxiliary Post 6891. She loved to entertain, hosting Sunday Vikings games, and countless holidays. Lorene was a great cook with a few of her specialties being SOS and ‘Reenie’ chip dip. She was a connoisseur of pizza, specifically pepperoni, onion and green olive pizza, and sunflower seeds. She was always entertaining her family and friends, performing songs and dressing up as Dolly Parton and Freddy Fender. She never was fully ready for the day until her lipstick was on.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents Mildred Keller and John L. (Les) Goodwin, stepfather Richard Keller, sisters Carol Carver and Marlys Weibye, brother Les Goodwin, brothers-in-law David Hagen Richard Benson, Howard Carver and Marsall Weibye, niece Tammy Carver and nephew Todd Goodwin.
Survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Todd Tranby. Children Chad Ekeberg of Pequot Lakes, MN, Brenda (Alex) Ugalde of St. Michael, MN, Erik Tranby of Duluth, MN, and Elizabeth Klemer of Middleton, ID. Grandchildren Chelsea Ekeberg, Emma Ekeberg, Ethan Ekeberg, Anya Modec Tranby, Elise Tranby, William Klemer, Grace Klemer, and Matthew Klemer. Sisters Patti Benson and Judy Hagen, sister-in-law Mary Goodwin, many nieces, nephews and cousins along with her best friend Karen Rolf.
