Wanda (Helgeson) Olson

Wanda (Helgeson) Olson, age 70, of Erskine, MN, passed away on Thursday, August 13th, at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh. In accordance with Wanda’s own wishes, a memorial service will not be held. Born September 1955 to Walter and Mabel (Omang) Helgeson of Bejou, MN, Wanda attended school in Bejou through 8th grade and graduated from Mahnomen High in 1973. After high school, she graduated from secretarial school in Thief River Falls. She worked for the United Way in Casper, Wyoming, and was a 911 Dispatcher for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department in Crookston, MN. She found her true calling serving as Business Manager for McIntosh Senior Living, even leaving retirement to come back part-time, and eventually serving over thirty years. She loved the friends she had at MSL, staff and residents alike.

Wanda was married briefly to Rod Olson of Mentor, and together they had one son, Ryan.

Wanda is survived by her son, Ryan Olson of Belgrade, Serbia; parents Walter and Mabel Helgeson of Bejou; and siblings Wes (Deb) Helgeson of Douglas, WY, Connie Collette of Sahuarita, AZ, Gary Helgeson of Bejou, Greg (Vicki) Helgeson of Bejou, and Darla (Sean Reid) Helgeson of Fargo, ND.
