(DNF) 72-Adam Johnson[1] Drivers from four states converged on Bemidji Speedway Sunday night for the weekly races. Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin had drivers in the competition. For the Pepsi Nei Bottling “Kids Night” activities ranged from a candy toss, water wars, backpack giveaways, and the always enjoyable Box Car races on the front straightaway. Fun was had by all. Next week the track will host the rescheduled “Young Guns Night” with all drivers 20 and under introduced to the crowd during the intermission. Wissota Street Stock Feature: First on track for the feature races was the Wissota Streets with Chris Dudley on the pole and Siren, Wisconsin racer Levi Randt outside front row. Randt powered to the lead with Dudley and Layla Chapin of Cameron, Wisconsin in the top three. Randt blasted to a multicar length lead before a spin and caution slowed the race creating a restart. The restart worked to Deryk Weleski’s advantage racing low in turn four into third. Randt continued to build on his lead and took the checkered flag for his 20th victory of the season and a clean sweep. Dudley and Weleski held the 2nd and 3rd spots. Wissota Midwest Modified Feature: The Wissota Midwest Mods were next on track with Hunter Weeks and Carter Matthews leading the way in row one. After the initial lap it was Matthews in the lead with Weeks and Cejay LaValley trailing. Charging up from his third row starting position Jory Berg was on the move passing LaValley down the front straight. A multi-car spin sent several drivers to the pits for repairs and creating a restart with Matthews out front followed by Berg, Weeks, Landon Gross and Josh Beaulieu. Weeks and Berg battled side by side for second. The racing was fast and furious with Berg, Weeks and Beaulieu three wide fighting for second with Beaulieu gaining the advantage. Another caution flag waved sending Berg to the rear of the field for the restart. Picking up his second win and clean sweep of the season Matthews was impressive. Coming in second was Beaulieu with Landon Gross taking third. Bemidji Mini Stocks Feature: Cody Myers and Cameron Schwinn led the pack of 14 Bemidji Mini Stocks to the green flag with Schwinn taking the lead over Myers and Weston Ramsrud. Ramsrud and Conrad Schwinn were able to get by Myers for second and third and raced up to challenge Cameron Schwinn in a tight three car battle. Following a caution and restart Conrad Schwinn passed Ramsrud on the back straight for second. Father and Son raced side by side for the lead with Cameron Schwinn holding the slight advantage over his dad Conrad. Charging up to join the leaders Nick McCann joined battle to make it a four car fight to the end. Cameron Schwinn won the battle to claim his first win of the year and a clean sweep. Conrad Schwinn, and McCann were top three. Wissota Pure Stock Feature: 14 Wissota Pure stocks roared on track with Josh Bitker on the pole and Jake Smith to his right. At the green flag Smith took the lead with Bitker, Kade Leeper, Josh Berg and Austin Carlson in the top five. Leeper got around Bitker for second and began the duel with Smith for the lead. Several spins and crashes slowed the racing for restarts but each time Smith was able to keep his lead. Late in the race Carlson moved up into third and then passed Leeper for second with an outside line pass. Smith won the race with Carlson and Leeper in the top three. Wissota Hornet Feature: The front wheel drive Wissota Hornets were next on track led by National Point leader Brady Fosso with William Lange to his right. Fosso powered to the lead with Lange and Logan Delaney chasing him. Delaney had company quickly with Adam Kessler and Bryce Mueller charging up to challenge him both passing him. In a flag to flag race Fosso picked up the win with Lange and Kessler in the top three. Wissota Mod Four Feature: Holding onto the third place position nationally Ashton Schwinn was on the pole with Dean Larson to his right. In a very fast start Schwinn powered to the lead with Larson and Shannon George trailing. Larson drifted up high out of turn two and dropped to fourth. George and Conrad Schwinn moved up into second and third. A huge multi-car crash coming out of turn four slowed the racing for a restart and sending Conrad Schwinn to the pits along with others for repairs. Once the cars were all back on track it was Ashton Schwinn flying out to a huge ½ lap lead over the field. Charging up from his fourth row starting position Dexyn Habraken raced into contention in third place behind George in second. The race was never in doubt with Ashton Schwinn claiming his sixth feature win at Bemidji. George and Habraken finished in second and third. Wissota Modified Feature: The final race of the Kids Night special was the mightly Wissota Modifieds. Davey Mills and Nick Lewis led the charge with Mills gaining the advantage over the new modified driver Lewis. Charging up from his second row start was Clear Lake, South Dakota driver Tony Konold with Alan Olafson tight behind him. Konolds #15 modified slowed on the track in turn four bringing out the caution and was force to pit, out for the night. The restart was controlled by Mills with Olafson, Jeff Reed, Nick Lewis and Adam Johnson in the top five. Mills held his line and speed and took the feature win his third of the summer. Olafson and Reed trailed.
