Win E Mac Community Education recently held a beginning quilt class at the McIntosh Community Center with Connie Strom as the leader! It started at 9:00 in the morning with the girls and their helpers (which was either their Moms or Grandmas) cut the fabric strips. Then the girls selected which strips they wanted to sew together. Once their selection was done they sewed their strips together and their adult helper squared them up to 15 inch blocks.
Then the girls went to the design board (which was a flannel backed tablecloth) and designed their quilt top, once done designing the sewing began again as they sewed the blocks together to make a row! After all the rows were sewn they sewed the rows together and they were done! They had sew much fun and they learned a lot. It was fun to see what each quilt looked like at the end! Exact same pattern but each had different fabric. This was a two day class.
The quilts can be seen in full color by visiting the McIntosh Times website at www.tricocanary.com/mcintosh-times.
