Tractor Trivia September 28
Fun with an AR John Deere
On Sunday, September 27th, my wife and I attended a fun annual event-the Hytta Autumn Market at Seeger Farms near Red Lake Falls. If you want to try some food vendors, craft vendors, and variety of other great items to checkout you should make and effort to get there for a fun day for all. We were meeting there after church with our son, Marshall, daughter-in-law, Rochelle, and grandson Madden. When we arrived we texted them to see where they were as there was a nice crowd at the Hytta event! Our answer was we are behind the silos sitting on the tractor…..sitting on the tractor, we made it there quickly to find them sitting on a 1937 AR John Deere taking a picture! What a great backdrop for a picture!
After we had taken a few pictures I learned a little history of the AR. Standing near the tractor was Brad Seeger who gave me a little background. Now, apologize if I missed a few of the details, but you know when I get a chance to talk tractors the gears in my head start turning!
The AR apparently was originally on steel wheels, now it is on rubber tires. The tractor was purchased by Brad’s grandfather, Ernest Seeger, before WWII. During the war Ernest and his wife went to California to build planes for the war so their son Wally used the AR to farm. The tractor was later sold and replaced by a big Model R John Deere. Eventually the family got the AR back.
The AR was fixed up by Brad’s brothers Mike and Steve Seeger and what a great addition to the Hytta Autumn Market. Especially if it is surrounded by a couple beautiful Mumms, some pumpkins and gourds, a straw bale, and a couple Universal Milker buckets full of wheat. Oh what fun!!
I LOVE to look at tractors, but when you can visit with someone and get I little history or a story or two about it…..that makes it even more fun!! Thanks for the visit!!
