The Red Lake County Central Student Senate hosted the Student Senate Summit in Oklee this spring on March 6th. Eleven schools attended the summit.

The members hosted many activities throughout the day. First the students found out about the candidates that they were voting on for next fall’s meet. The positions that are voted for are President, Secretary, Treasurer, and three representatives. Each spring the students vote who they think would best fit each position.

Three students from RLCC ran for a position on the board. Adrianna Jones ran for Secretary, Cari Bachand and Isaiah Aquino ran for Representative. Jones was elected to the Secretary position and Aquino was voted into one of three of the Representative positions.

The guest speaker was Doug Erickson who talked about how mental health is just as important as physical health. Erickson also showed the students videos about how they can help with mental health.
