Snowmobile Crash

On February 28, 2026 at approximately 1400 hours, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a snowmobile crash in Gentilly Township, northeast of Gentilly. Deputies arrived on scene along with Crookston Area Ambulance shortly thereafter and initiated life saving measures.
The operator of the snowmobile was identified as 33-year-old Cody Teie of Thief River Falls. Teie succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Teie was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
Assisting agencies: Crookston Area Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol and University of North Dakota Forensic Pathology.
No further information will be released at this time.
