This is Polk County Fair Week!

This week is the start of the 119th Annual Polk County Fair held in Fertile. The fair will run from Wednesday, July 10th to Sunday, July 14th.
Wednesday starts off with open class and FFA entries due from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. The midway opens at 5:00 pm and there will be Open Class judging of agriculture and flowers.
The Polk County Fair Chocolate Contest will also take place at 7:00 pm. Entries must be in by 6:30 pm and will take place at the Free Stage. There will be sampling following the judging. There are adult and kid categories. 
At 7:00 pm the Rodeo begins. There will be Karaoke from 9:00 pm to midnight for all ages.
Thursday, July 11th starts at 9:00 am with Open Class judging. The midway opens at 4:00 pm and there will also be a Kid’s bike drawing at that time. 
The rodeo continues on Thursday again starting at 7:00 pm. 
There will also be a Talent Contest on the free stage starting at 7:00 pm. There will be pre-teen, teen and adult divisions.
Senior Citizens Day will be Friday, July 12th in the Christian Fellowship Tent. There will be prizes, bingo, entertainment, and lunch for everyone 55 years old and older.
The midway opens at 1:00 pm and there will be bingo in the Grandstand starting at 2:00 pm with cash prizes. 
The kids bike drawing will be at 4:00 pm right before the kid pedal pull which will begin at 4:15 pm.
Open Class judging of general livestock will start at 5:30 pm.
Baja racing begins at 6:30 pm and will feature 8 cylinders, pickups and vans.
Saturday starts with Open Class judging of dairy goats at 8:30 am.  At 9:30 am there will be dairy Open Class judging.
There will be a 5K walk/run which starts at 9:00 am. Registration opens at 8:00 am near the Free Stage. Proceeds go towards the Polk County Fair building improvement fund.
The midway will open at noon.
Dock Dogs, a popular attraction will have registration at Noon and the events will begin at 1:00 pm with events at 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm as well. The day will feature Big Air Wave and Extreme Vertical. 
Baja racing will start at 1:00 pm with 4 and 6 cylinder heats.
There will be the annual Century Farms presentation at 3:45 pm on the Hanson Free Stage.
Main event Baja racing will take place starting at 6:30 pm with State Championship Baja racing.
The final day, Sunday, July 14th will start with a church service at 10:00 am. 
The Polk County Fair Community Parade will start at 2:00 pm. There will cash prizes for the best floats. The theme this year is “Red, White & Blue”.
The midway will open at noon and there will be Dock Dogs registration starting at noon as well. The days events will feature, Big Air wave, Speed Retrieve, and Big Air Finals.
The Dock Dogs Events will begin at 1:00 pm, again at 2:30 pm. The Finals for Dock Dogs will be 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm. 
There will be a kids bike drawing at 4:00 pm on Sunday as well.
The Super Demo Derby will start at 6:30 pm and end the week of the fair. There will be four classes, modified, stock, pickups and compacts. Prizes range from $1,200 to $250. There will be trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. Rules and entry forms are available on the fair website.
After the Demo Derby there will be a fireworks show starting at 10:30 pm.
