Each year the East Polk County Chapter of Quilts of Valor donates handmade quilts to our local Veterans. The group meets on one occasion to cut fabric for the quilts and another time to sew together the quilts and prepare them to be quilted.
Quilts of Valor Foundation was created by Catherine Roberts of Seaford, Delaware whose desire to see that returning warriors were welcomed home with love and gratitude they deserved.
Quilts of Valor are stitched with love, prayers and healing thoughts and are awarded to those who have served in combat as a tangible token of appreciation.
For many of these brave men and women, their Quilts of Valor is the only thanks they will ever receive for their service and sacrifice. It’s so easy, and it means so much to those who put themselves into harms way for our freedom and liberties.
On Saturday, November 17th starting at 9:00 am at the McIntosh Community Center the East Polk County Quilts of Valor will be meeting up for a cutting day.
All the fabric will be provided. The group has many patterns but are always looking for new creation to create so feel free to share your patterns. The hope is to make 15 quilt kits for our sewing day which will be January 12, 2019.
Everyone is welcome! If you have the following it would be great if you could bring it along: Rotary cutter, rulers, scissors, and cutting mats. There will be ironing boards and irons available.
Also, there will be a potluck dinner so bring a dish to share.
You do not need to be a member of the QOV to be a part of this day all volunteers are welcome and needed!
Any questions please call Connie Strom at 563-2666. Hope to see you there.
You can visit the Quilts of Valor website at www.qovf.org for more information and to see pictures of some of the quilts and the servicemen, women and veterans that have been honored.
SAVE THE DATE! Saturday, November 17th starting at 9:00 am at the McIntosh Community Center. Stay all day, or come for a little while.
