Greenbush Race results July 4
The Greenbush Race park hosted a hot and exciting night of racing to go with the weekend long list of festivities that were scheduled. Thankfully the heat and humidity didn’t produce any thunderstorms as once again those went to other areas and left the track nice and dry to host an entertaining evening.
The Agassiz Insurance WISSOTA Pure Stocks hit the track running with Keifer Kainz and Kade Leaper sharing the front row. Leaper would lead a majority of the race, but a few restarts would shake up the lineup. On one of the restarts Mason Smith would be sent to the rear for jumping the start but would soon make up for the mistake and get back in contention shortly. A couple of restarts later leaper looked to have his first win of 2026 in sight when his car pushed up the track with one lap to go allowing Smith to slip by and claim the win. He was followed by Leaper, Chris Smeby, and Mason Scholin.
The T & B Auto 4-Cylinders followed the Pure Stocks and were led to the green flag by Gabriel Espe and Brooke McCann. Espe had an eventful feature. He led at one point. He was also sent to the back of the field for bringing out the caution flag, then battled back to second before having to retire his car for the evening. Out Front it was the McCann Show and Brooke led from the midway point until the finish with her father Nick giving chase, with the white flag in the air, her car began to smoke sporadically but she would hold on to win her second feature of the evening followed by Nick McCann in second and Jayme Gordon in third.
The Tamarack Landscaping WISSOTA Street Stocks had a stout field of contenders once again. When the green flag was displayed it was Jeremy Gust on the pole and Greg Jose out front. Jose would snag the early lead and keep a comfortable lead throughout the feature event. Gust would make several attempts to get beside Jose, but to no avail. Jon Halvorson was also within a car length of Gust as they tried to keep pace with the leader. When the checkered flag was waving, it was Jose with the win, Gust, Deryk Weleski, And Josh Barker rounding out the top 5. That was until the winner, Jose, forgot to scale. An unfortunate mistake, one that yours truly made in Grand Forks one night as well so I feel for Jose. With the error, the win was handed to the second-place finisher, Jeremy Gust. As it was for me, I’m sure it’ll be a lesson, the driver from Grand Forks won’t forget anytime soon.
The fourth class of the night was the Farmer Co-op Ag Services WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds. Led by Brody Kraft and Evan Gust, the field hit turn one with a head of steam. There would be several cautions, and the field had multiple caution flags which shuffled tremendously. Kraft would battle hard and eventually lose the lead to Justin Olson. Olson, who started 6th, looked like he was the car to beat when a restart shuffled the deck once again and he found himself on the wrong side of it, Jory Berg took advantage using the low side of the track and snagged the lead with roughly five laps to go. He would hang on and take home the win. Kraft would finish second, followed by Olson, Alex Johnson, and Travis Klein in fifth.
Todds Electric Lightning Sprints were next to hit the track and put on a great show along with some freaky-fast lap times. Alan Truscinski and Emmit Isane would lead the field to green. As the laps started to unfold Dexter Dvergstein worked his way up from his sixth stating position and looked to challenge the cars of Truscinski and Isane. Isane would get within a half-car length of Truscinski on multiple occasions. The consistency and perseverance to stick to the low line in turns one and two paid dividends for Alan. Through a few close calls with lapped cars allowing Isane to close back and making an exciting finish, it was Truscinski taking home the win followed by Isnae and Dvergstein in third. For Truscinsk it was only his second night in the fifteen-year-old car owned by Kyle Cole. With a mostly stock engine powered by E-85 fuel, it should encourage anyone thinking of getting into the lightning sprints to do so.
The RCCA Modifieds had another stout field as well as the field looking to take the green flag. They were led by Patrick Sobolik and Devyn Weleski. Weleski would pull away and look to Have the Vicory in hand as soon it was Ryan Schroeder to challenge for the lead. Schroeder would battle hard for the lead but both drivers batting for the win would soon find themselves in the back row just past the midway point of the race as they were both responsible for bringing out separate yellow flags. As the field went to racing, Aaron Holtan took advantage of the restarts and used the low line to work his way forward. After starting ninth, we would take the lead with roughly five laps to go and cruise to his second feature win of the year. He was followed by Connor Graff, Ryan Johnson, Jordan Duray, and Dustin Wahl rounding out the top five.
Thanks to all the sponsors, track crew members, EMS, concessions workers, and everyone involved in making the Greenbush Race park 4th of July race something truly special. We hope to see you again soon! Thank you and God bless America as we celebrate 250 years of freedom.
