Gonvick celebrated Car Show and Pumpkin Day

The full day started out with the craft and flea market people coming in to set up their wares. Kandi's Kitchen was open at 6:30 in the morning. Cars started coming into town for registration at 9:00 am. There were 75 cars lined up on Main Street in Gonvick on Saturday, September 25.
Clearwater Polk brought in their lift. Mike Girtz took many people up to see what was happening in downtown Gonvick.Some of the winners from the chicken drop were: Mason Rogstad, Kianna McBride, Charla Parker, Patty Beardsley and Glen Olson.
Many door prizes and bikes were drawn for the many people in attendance.  The pumpkin drop with a large pumpkin loaded candy with the youngest children being able to go in first to pick up some of the candy. There was also a money dig for the youngest ones as well. 
The last thing that was done was the weighing of the pumpkins. With the dry weather the pumpkins came in bigger than expected. The first place went to Wade Klema with JJ Solberg was 1,553 pounds for the $1,000. Good for the Gonvick grower. Last year they had a record 1,990 pounds. Second place and $500 went to Bryson Fiedler with his 609 pound pumpkin. Third place with a 470 pound pumpkin and $250 was Blake Prestemon. Ray and Monique had a 463 pound pumpkin and $150 for fourth place. The rest of the winners each received $100. Fifth place was Bob Edevold with 458 pounds. Sixth place was Lee and Jack Nordlund with 371 pounds. Seventh place was Tucker Johnson with 359 pounds. Eighth place was Charlie and Barb Bergh with 332 pounds. Ninth place was a tie with 319 pounds. They were Frank and Anne Bergh and Jesse Eck. Tenth place was Wayne Bergh and Lori Bahr with 285 pounds.
