Garfield Lake Ice Racers January 11

     The Garfield Lake Ice Racers Club opened its 25th season of racing on Sunday January 11th on Garfield Lake in Laporte, Mn.  Races began at noon and will continue to race each Sunday as long as the ice permits. Over the 25 years the club has made donations in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to charity causes, Veterans groups and individuals in need.

     New in 2026 the club is racing a single class for most of the drivers with a new youth/rookie class added for drivers 16 and under. Heat races will be followed by consolation races when needed and features.   Two complete sets of races will be held each Sunday.

     Long time flagman Tom Lindahl has been the flagman for 19 years. Lindahl is now the President of the club handing the flagging duties over to Gordon Hunter who performed well on his first time on the flagstand.

     A total of six races were held on Sunday with only one repeat winner, Tristin Domski picking up a heat and feature win.  Other heat winners were Bob Pawlitschek, Ben Buck, Sean Fea and Domski. Feature winners were Nathan Doughty and Tristin Domski.

      Fans can watch the races for free with parking on the east side of the track.  Rest room facilities are available.
