It’s not often that a town is able to continue an annual celebration for 50 straight years. That is amazing all by itself. But it is also amazing that the people of Brooks continue to always put on a great celebration year after year. Without all the people volunteering to their time, it wouldn’t be enjoying the 50th Anniversary of the “Blast To Brooks.”
On the seconded Saturday of September, the 11th, is the day of the Blast To Brooks. The weather is usually great. According to the weathermen, it should be ???
The activities will begin at 9:00 a.m. with an opening prayer. And St. Joseph’s 100 item raffle that starts right after the prayer. And there is at 9:30 a.m. a bake sale at St. Joseph’s Church in the church basement and don’t forget they have a plate lunch at 11:00 a.m.
There will be a great Car & Bike show in the Park starting at 11 a.m. (registration is at 10:30 a.m. in the park). They always have a good turnout and there are so many great cars to look at. And nearby is the Antique Tractor and Machinery Show. Which is also a treat for all ages.
There will a softball tournament and Moto Cross Races (I assume at the track just north of Brooks), and a Mechanical Bull.
There will be a Beer Garden and Food Vendors available if you get hungry or thirsty. There is usually tables set up on main street with Flea Marketeers with a variety of products. In past years, there have been canned goods, garden goods, purses, sweatshirts, blankets, trinkets, etc.
All day long there are all kinds of activities. At 1 p.m. there is outdoor music by the “Honkey Tonk Troubadors” playing until 5 p.m. With more music throughout the day and into the evening. The “Fugitives” will be playing from 5 – 8 p.m. and then “Eagle Creek” start at 8 p.m.
The Grand Parade starts at 2 p.m. which is always fun. At 2:30 (after the parade), you can register for the Corn Hole Tournament. And you can check out the Micro Mini Tractor Pull. At 2:30 p.m. North Star Credit Union is also having an event. It should be interesting to see. They call it a “Money Cube.” Not really sure what this is but will be interesting.
There will be Kids Games at 3 p.m. and the always fun event for the younger crowd, the Ping Pong Ball Drop. North Star Credit Union is having a money cube from 2:30-4pm
So come out and enjoy the nice weather and have lots of fun on September 11th at the Blast To Brooks.
