University of Minnesota Extension will be holding a “What is a Fair Farm Rental Agreement? Land Rent Seminar” virtual zoom meeting on December 1, 2025 at 1:30 pm.

These free meetings are being provided by the University of Minnesota Extension. Farm land rental rates are the largest input cost the farmer has and determining a fair farm rent agreement that satisfies the land owner and the farmer is always challenging. Extension Educators in Ag Business Management, will provide several ways – examples, factsheets and worksheets – to determine a fair farm land rental rate for both parties.

Landlords, Farmers, and Agri-Business Professionals should make plans to attend one of the informative meetings. The University of Minnesota Extension is providing these free meetings. Farmland rental rates are the largest input cost the farmer has. Determining a fair farm rent agreement is a challenge in today’s economy. Topics covered at the meetings will include county historic farmland rental rates, current farmland values and sales, cost of production, and worksheets that will help determine a fair rental agreement for the landowner and farmer. Input costs will be presented along with current corn and soybean prices.

Make plans to attend one of these meetings now.  Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link for webinars. Attendees will receive several informative worksheets and factsheets that will help to determine what a fair 2026 farmland rental rate is.  For online webinars, these handouts will be emailed to you before the meeting date along with your zoom link.
