The Department of Natural Rescources had a helicopter and a single engine tanker that was used to cool the active fire between Gonvick and Gully last week. Fire Departments from Gonvick and Clearbrook were able to establish a fire line to get the fire under control. Multiple crews were on scene and on County Road between the towns of Gully and Gonvick. The crews have the fire under control. Gonvick-Clearbrook Police Department and Minnesota State Trooper blocked the roads north of Gonvick to only fire department personal in order to contain the fires. The DNR reminds people that open burning restrictions remain in northwestern Minnesota. Under these restrictions, open burning of brush or yard waste is prohibited.
