Girls basketball holiday tournament

The girls basketball team played in the holiday tournament last week at Northland Community & Technical College in Thief River Falls. Game 1 was held on Tuesday, December 12th. GG played SAC and lost the game 34-77.
Stats were sent to the paper by Coach Johnsrud for the 12-12 game, although they don’t match up with the score. Unsure of which stats are incorrect as of print date:
Stats per Coach Elroy Johnsrud: Daria Waletzki- 1 point, Amy Wiskow- 5 points, Chloe Kuznia- 2 points, Maloni Henrickson- 2 points, Maci Bakken- 7 points, Madi Race- 2 points, Mercedes Coan- 8 points, 3 steals, Brooke Limesand- 6 points 4 rebounds, Cheyenne Irlbeck- 4 points
Coaches Comments: We lost this game but we have shown some improvement since we played them 2 weeks ago. We were more calm on offense and moved the ball better. The girls did a better job at getting back on defense, and stopping their transition offense. We shot 62% from the free throw line which is increasing each game, but now we have raise our shooting percentage which was at 26%. We got 42 shot attempts this game which was up 11 from the last time we played them. We have to start making more of the shots that we take, and I think that will come with time.
Game 2 was held on December 14th against RLCC. The Chargers got the victory with a score of 53-51.

Coaches Comments: We got our first win of the season. Which is good for a young team in so many ways. They also had to keep fighting to get this win. At one point we were down by 10 points in the first half. The pressure got to us in the first half but the girls did a good job of handling it better in the 2nd half, which helped us get back into the game and pull it out. We shot 47.7% on our total field goals which is the best we have shot all season. Cheyenne had an excellent game recording a double-double. She was also named player of the game. Amy Wiskow played well also while making some clutch shots at the end to keep us ahead.
The final game was played on Friday, December 15th, against Clearbrook/Gonvick. It was a 58-29 win for the Bears.
Stats were sent to the paper by Coach Johnsrud for the 12-15 game, although they don’t match up with the score. Unsure of which stats are incorrect as of print date:

Coaches Comments: This was the second time we played Clearbrook-Gonvick with the same result. They put good pressure on us and it worked for them. We are still making some mistakes, but we are working on them in practice. The girls have improved in a lot of areas in the first month the season. They continue to work hard and try to get better each day.
