Shirley E. Shereck 87 of Bagley, MN died on Sunday, January 5, 2025, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Bagley with Father Chuck Huck officiating. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley. A prayer service will be conducted at 3:30 pm. A visitation will also be one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be held at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Bagley.
Shirley was born May 16, 1937, in Moorhead, MN the daughter of Edward (Bud) and Edythe Staehnke. She grew up in Clearbrook and graduated from Clearbrook High School. Shirley married Leonard Shereck on November 22, 1958, in Bagley. Shirley and Leonard were married for 53 years, and you could count on one hand the time they spent apart.
Shirley worked many jobs including daycare for her Bagley community, joining Leonard in construction for 7 years, and taking care of her children. She had a gift for sewing, knitting, crocheting, and painting. She enjoyed puzzling, morning coffee, gardening, and spending time with her family. Shirley was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and loved the Lord. She spent time volunteering at the Bagley Senior Center and enjoying time with friends. Serving and providing for others was a major part of who Shirley was. All were welcome no matter what.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Mike Kitagawa) Downey of Bemidji, son Lee Shereck of Bagley, daughter-in-law Prudence Shereck of Thief River. Grandchildren Sara (Jordan) Kretzschmar, Katie Shereck, Megan (Brett Hartje) Downey, Trevor Shereck, Andrew Shereck, and Samantha (Jesse) Lee. Great-grandchildren Leo and Ruby Kretzschmar, and Jenny and Jettson Lee. Brothers Rodney and Dennis Staehnke.
Shirley was proceeded in death by her husband Leonard Shereck, son Leslie Shereck, her infant daughter, her parents, and brother Lyle.
