Services for Paul Neill
Paul Neill of Bagley, Minnesota, age 76 passed away peacefully at Cornerstone Nursing on July 19, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Paul was born in Chicago, IL to parents Maurice and Millie Neill. The family lived in Walla Walla, WA, Minneapolis, MN, and Bagley, MN.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Bagley, with the Pastor Jeb Monge officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley. Interment will be held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Paul graduated from Bagley High School and moved to his sister’s in Fort Worth, TX where he attended the University of Texas. He later joined the Air Force in 1965 and was stationed in Anderson Air Force Base in Guam.
Paul had 2 children from a previous marriage, Christy and Michelle, and in 1978 he moved his family to Farmington, MN where he owned and operated Neill’s Plumbing and Heating. In 1983, he moved back home to Bagley where he met and married Janice Edevold Lien, who had 2 children, Steve and Pamela. Paul and Janice were married for 37 years.
Paul was very active in the community and had a lot of interests. He owned and operated Neill’s Plumbing and Heating in Bagley for 38 years and retired in 2016 due to health problems. He was on the school board for over 20 years and had two terms as post commander at the Bagley American Legion. He was a part of the color guard and was the gambling manager for the Legion. While Paul was president of Zion Lutheran Church, he was involved in the rebuilding the Zion Church. He loved bowling, golfing, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, fishing, traveling, and politics. Paul had such a quick wit about him, and he enjoyed bantering with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by mother, Millie Neill, father Maurice Neill, brothers Kenneth Thorson, Gary Neill, and Robert Thorson and sisters Dorla Herrin and Donna Harris. Paul is survived by his wife Jan, his four children Steven Lien of Bagley, Pamela Sharp of Bagley, Michelle Raiter of Shevlin, and Christy Neill of West Virginia, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, sisters Carol Hromidko, Sharon Trandem, and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
