Kelly Orlen Halvorson was born on June 10, 1978, in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Edward and Judith (Brinkman) Halvorson. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. He attended elementary and high school in Fosston and was a graduate of the 1997 class.
During his high school years, Kelly worked for various neighbors, including the Sundrud Skinning business and on Jeffrey Matson’s Farm.
After graduating high school, Kelly enrolled at Northland Community Technical College in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He graduated in 1999 with a degree in welding. Right after graduating, Kelly went to work welding for the Arctic Cat Corporation in Thief River Falls. He worked there until 2021 when he started welding for Erskine Manufacturing.
Kelly was an avid hunter and thoroughly loved all the geese and deer hunting times with his dad, brother, and most especially his two nephews, Nathan and Adam. There was a lot of hunting merchandise bought to spoil the nephews. The 3 AM geese hunts will be a constant memory for them. Kelly loved to put out cameras and see what wildlife would come passing through. There were many conversations about the pictures of the deer, wolves, moose, and the occasional skunk.
Kelly is survived by his mother, Judy of Fosston; sister, Renee Halvorson of Lester Prairie, Minnesota; brother, Terry (Alisa) of Gully; and nephews, Nathan (Amber) of Fosston and Adam Halvorson of Clearbrook, Minnesota. Aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; grandparents, Edwin and Mildred Halvorson and Arnie and Louise Brinkman.
