Obituary for Wanda Fay La Voi


Wanda Fay La Voi, 83, of Bemidji, MN died Saturday, February 24, 2024 at her home.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Wanda was born November 14, 1940 in McIntosh, MN, the 4th child to Jessie (Morgan) Thompson and Lloyd Russell Thompson. She was baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church in McIntosh. She was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McIntosh. She attended school in McIntosh and graduated in 1958. After graduation Wanda worked at the ASC office during the summer. She then began working at Sessions Drug Store in Fosston, MN where she worked until 1960. She married Richard Earl Omer La Voi on August 26, 1960 in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in McIntosh.
After Wanda and Dick were married, they moved to Crookston, MN. Wanda worked as a proof reader for the Crookston Times until 1961. They moved to Bemidji after Dick was transferred to Brent’s Music Center where Wanda also worked. They worked for Brent’s until 1970 when they decided to move to Alaska. Wanda worked for J.C. Penney in the parts department from 1970 until 1983. She also worked two seasons at Bell’s Nursery in Anchorage. In 1986 they returned to Minnesota and they bought Camp Faribo at Faribault, MN which they owned and operated until 1996 when they retired. Wanda volunteered at St. Philip’s Thrift Store in Bemidji. They also were volunteers at nursing homes. Wanda enjoyed riding bicycle on the trails in Bemidji, painting, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her Deep Rock neighborhood family.
Wanda is survived by her sister, Audrey Holm of Fosston, MN, brother, Noel Thompson of McIntosh, MN, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick, and her brother, Lyle Thompson.
