Steven Wayne Opdahl was born March 3rd, 1962, in Fosston MN to parents Ardell and Lloyd Opdahl.
Steven grew up in Oklee MN, he was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Zion Church in Oklee. Steven had a love of sports and played varsity basketball at Oklee High School. Later he played on mens softball leagues with many of his peers.
After high school Steven attended Northland College in Thief River Falls MN, graduating with an accounting degree. He then moved to Arizona to work in the Phoenix area. Later he moved back home and worked different jobs in the area. One job he was quite fond of was working in Brooks at the Cozy, where he could get the opportunity to see many of his friends.
Steven decided to attend Thief River Falls Technical College for computer technology. Even before he
Graduated he was sought out by IBM to move to Rochester MN and work for them. This position he held the majority of his life. When IBM moved out of state Steven moved back to the family home to help to take care of his Father and Mother who were in nursing homes and assisted living homes.
Steven faithfully went to the Assisted Living Home every Sunday to visit his Mother. He drove her to doctor appointments and purchased for her whatever she was wanting or needed. Steve was currently employed at Digi-Key in Thief River Falls MN.
Steve was always a very quiet person. He was very well liked by his friends. He could watch sports on TV sometimes all day and night. He would willingly engage in a game of cards providing the sports on TV was visible from his spot at the card table.
Steven passed away May 9th 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Jerome.
Steven is survived by his brother Lyle (Wendy) Opdahl.
Their daughters - Nikki Opdahl, & Jessica (Chase) Brooks, & Jessie & Chase’s son Cohen Brooks.
Brother Clyde (Wanda) Opdahl. Their Daughter -Angela (Dennis) Torkelson, & Angela & Dennis’s son Travis (Alexis Moe) Torkelson.
Their Son- Ron (Tanya) Engesether, Ron & Tanya’s children Bailey and Logan Engesether.
Their Son -Brandon (Sara) Wilson. Brandon & Sara’s sons Dylan, Ethan & Jack Wilson.
