George Fred Gardiner, 87, Grand Forks, ND, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Altru Hospital of Grand Forks.
George was born June 23, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of Elsie (Gaetz) Gardiner. He attended schools in Orleans, MN and Lancaster, MN, then served in the U.S. Army.
George married Verona Nelson in 1960 at Oklee, MN. They made their home in Grand Forks, ND.
George worked at various jobs before working for years for Fred Nordenstrom Plastering and Elwood Braaten.
George enjoyed fishing, hunting, building things, gardening, paint by numbers and spending time with family and friends.
George is survived by his wife, Verona; children, Randy (Susan), Wayne, and Rhonda; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Doris Roy, and Marian (Gordon) Engen.
George was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie; step-father, Jack; sister, Joyce Milliman, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edna and Thome Nelson; brother-in-law, Robert Roy.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:30 PM prayer service at University Lutheran Church, Grand Forks. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 Am followed by a memorial service at University Lutheran Church.
