Years ago, Rupert Syverson called his neighbors to go on an ATV trail ride. What started out as a small group of friends taking a short ride around the area has become the community ride it is now. After Rupert passed away, his nephew, Leslie Finseth, continued the tradition and as time passed the number of participants has increased.
This year the event took place on Sunday, October 3rd. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the 75 units to hit the trails, from single riders to families in side-by-sides. Leslie contacted the landowners in the Vernes Lutheran Church area for the trail ride and many allowed riders through their properties. A huge thank you to those with private trails that let the Vernes group through: Norris Syverson, Tim Finseth, Rudy Finseth, Gordon Syverson, Mark & Betty Syverson, Larry Finseth, Christine Hanson, Wayne Brekke, and Wesley Brekke.
The ride was planned with safety in mind, as well as excitement riding the hills and traveling through the woods. The oldest known passenger on the ride was a 93-year-old woman and the oldest known driver was Norris Syverson, 87 years young! After the 2 ½ hour ride, everyone was invited for a light lunch inside Vernes Lutheran Church.
If you have the opportunity to attend next year, it is highly recommended!
