Trail, Minnesota U.S.A. showed up on July 4th

Trail U.S. A. usually holds an all-day event for a traditional July 4th celebration of America’s Independence.    It is tradition… we all just go to Trail on the 4th.
But, this year, a lot of things have had to adjust.
Worldwide, and nationwide, major events have been cancelled by sensible people.  This year with the COVID 19 pandemic concerns in full swing- Trail responsibly decided not to have the street games, the kiddie parade, the sand pile dig for coins and all the other sticky, hot  July 4th activities that are so highly anticipated.
At twilight on July 4th , a few fireworks were shooting off in towns on the horizons to the north and the west.
Nothing at all was erupting from Trail.  Weren’t they doing fireworks?
They always do firework!  Trail kind of owns fireworks on the 4th of July. People sit in their cars to watch fireworks in Trail, so could properly distance and follow COVID safety practices .
Yet, nothing.
A steady stream of cars and pickups and side by sides of faithful Trail Fireworks fans were making their way to Trail.  There were thunderheads in every direction and a dramatic lightning show to the northwest.
Still… nothing went in the air from Trail.
Trail has way less than a 100 people in it.  Way less.  Maybe less than 50.
They said they’d have fireworks right?  The cars and picks-ups and side by sides kept coming… It was the 4th of July.  People go to Trail.
Then… well after dark and well after the rookies had burned out their punks…  there it was: the first poof.  Then, Trail lit up the night sky in proper July 4th manner.  Poof! Boom! Splat! Woosh, wow!  “ooooooh!” “aaaaaah!”
It was a truly proper showing of Trail on the 4th of July where so many generations of neighbors  have celebrated our American Independence.
People were proud.
There is no place like Trail on the 4th.
Thanks, Trail.  America needed you this year!
See you all next year in Trail U.S.A.
