The Sights and Smells of the Holiday

While making plans for Thanksgiving this year, our family decided we wanted to have some kind of activity to do after the feast in order to stave off the traditional after dinner coma. I had recently noticed an ad for Christmas wreaths on Facebook which sparked an idea. How about everyone decorates their own holiday wreath? We all brought our own ribbons and doo dads to embellish the project, and each one turned out so different and beautiful. It was also good to move around instead of sleeping on the couch!
The wreaths were delivered by Treena Kaupang on Wednesday, and I was amazed at how large and full each one was for the modest price of $10. Treena said that she makes sure each one weighs between 5-7 pounds. And is there anything better than the smell of fresh greens?
Treena has 10 years’ experience in wreath making, beginning with The Evergreen Company, where she was required to make 1000 wreaths for the season!
After going on her own, she reduced that number to a much more manageable 300. This year, due to health concerns, she set the number at 100. I’m very glad that I reserved our 16, since she sold them at the Fosston Craft Fair as well as through Facebook.
For the holiday season Treena also takes orders for Krumkake, in traditional or (yum) chocolate amaretto! Sounds good to me!
This busy lady also spends time at the Farmers Markets in the summer, with produce as well as with her delicious and unusual jams. She makes strawberry-watermelon, rhubarb blueberry, black cherry and wild grape. I remember sampling and buying some this summer! Delicious!
