Fatal Motorcycle Crash

On 06/01/2025, at approximately 1:03 P.M., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible motorcycle crash on County Road 38, approximately 1 ½ miles north of US Hwy 2. The crash scene was discovered by a passerby and the driver of the motorcycle, Travis Shimpa (Age 39) of rural Erskine, was located laying in the ditch. Travis was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. At the time of the crash, it appears Travis was northbound on County Road 38, which is a gravel surfaced road.

At this time, the crash is under investigation and no further information will be released.
