GO CHARGERS!
Football stats from last week’s games vs. BGMR and WAO
Chargers over Gators 22-15 on Tuesday, October 25th in Goodridge
No stats from the game available.
Coach’s comments: We fumbled in the 1st quarter inside our own 1 or 2-yard line, giving them an early touchdown. Then in the 2nd quarter, Gators made a defensive stand stopping us on their 1-yard line.
Early momentum carried the Gators to a last second touchdown pass before halftime to give them a 15-0 lead. No real major adjustments were made, just a wake-up call was needed and answered by the Chargers.
With that, we cannot have any slow starts vs. the WAO Ponies, or it will end our playoff run. The Ponies are too good of a team to get way behind and try play catch up. We need to come out fast and strong on Saturday.
Against the Gators in Goodridge, Carson Rubischko had a spectacular game on defense and special teams. His aggressive play seemed to be contagious to the rest of the team. Also, Blake Rychlock and Lewis Jones made some clutch first downs to sustain drives rushing and in the air. However, I want to reiterate; nothing gets done if you cannot control the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball. Our line woke up the second half and controlled both sides of the ball.

Coach’s comments:
The Charger’s captured momentum early with special teams. A big kickoff return by Matt Busse deep inside Ponies territory. Set up the first Chargers touchdown by Blake Rychlock & a fake extra point pass from Lewis Jones to Rychlock secured an 8-0 lead. Time of possession and a strong ground attack by the Goodridge-Grygla offense kept the Ponie offense off the field. But the highlight of the night was the great defensive play by the Chargers. Defensive coach Jason Grandstrand’s game plan held down the high-powered WAO offense to just two first downs. What a dominant performance by the Charger’s defense.
Kaylor Torgerson, Matt Busse, and Reece Sundberg’s strong second-half play helped secure the Chargers semi-final playoff victory.
The task will be much tougher Thursday, November 4th,  at the Fargo Dome where the Goodrigde- Grygla Chargers will get another chance at State-ranked Kittson County Bearcats for the Section 8 Championship.
