Four youth from the Clearwater County 4-H Horse Project recently competed at the Minnesota State 4-H Horse Show held on September 18th through the 21st at the state fairgrounds in St. Paul, MN.
These 4-H members, Trey Netland, Courtney Evenwoll, Katrina Evenwoll and Kealan Downs, each earned a state trip by competing and placing high at the county fair 4-H horse show. The county show has two categories, performance and games. These kids all won state trips in games which is made up of four different events including barrel racing, pole weaving, jumping figure eight and keyhole.
Everyone who participated at the state show performed very well and three members came home with awards for placing in the Top 10 of their division. Trey Netland won fifth place in 7th grade pole weaving, Kealan Downs placed seventh in 6-7th grade trail, and Katrina Evenwoll took home ninth place in 7th grade keyhole. Courtney Evenwoll represented Clearwater county by carrying the county flag in the Grand Entry event.
The Clearwater county members also received an honorable mention for their herdsmanship. This award is given to counties that keep their stalls, aisles and horses extremely clean and neatly kept over the weekend. The kids, along with the help of 4-H Horse Project members Keira Evenwoll and Kirah Otting, worked hard to earn recognition for their efforts.
Congratulations to all the 2015 state trip winners!
