Breakfast on the Farm was held at the Strandlien farm north of Shevlin on Saturday, July 6. The free Breakfast was a great success as they served 1,712 people.
The farm has been in the family with Craig Strandlien, the 4th generation to own the farm.
Anton and Tilla (Hagen) Strandlien was the first generation on the farm in 1912. Their children were Martha, Helmer, Theodor, Lilly and Clarence. Helmer and is wife Allyne Strandlien bought the farm in 1939. They had five children Norris, Joyce, Alice, Phyllis, Harland and Constance. Norris and Lila, Strandlien, parents of Craig had the farm after that.
The Clearwater Polk Electric was present to give people a bird’s eye look of the Strandlien Farm. They were lifted up on the large equipment.
It takes a lot of people to put on a free Breakfast on the Farm. Heading the group was the Headwaters Farm Bureau, The Clearwater County Fair board, The Whoa and Go Harness Club. The Bagley and Gonvick Lions Club helped prepare and serve the pancakes, sausage, strawberries and ice cream to the 1,712 who attended the event.
Joyce Strandlien, was also present at the Breakfast on the Farm. She is married to Donald Trefz and they live in Bagley. She lived for many years on the farm. Her husband is 100 years old and is now in assisted living.
