Benji Hofstad at Clearbrook City Council meeting to present updates

Benji Hofstad from Widset, Smith and Nolting was present to update the Clearbrook City Council August 14 on the water treatment and the street project. Either Knife River or Bemidji Bituminous will be doing the work for Reierson. Pavement was to be done in July. Concrete lips by K&K's and the Hardware Store have to be redone. There are still several items that need to be addressed by Reierson to make the project complete.
Items on the punch list include: Landscaping Items, Bituminous Paving Items, Concrete Items and other Misc Items. Only 10% of the contaminate soils money was used and that extra money could go to other projects that the city will need.
Concerns by those in attendance asked about the pet ordinance in town that include 5 cats and dogs total. There are dogs and cats that run free in town and what can be done about that. Residents are urged to call the Pound Master, Dan Ekre at 218-556-1943
There was also a discussion on the blight issue. The ordinance has been sent to the city attorney in Crookston. They will be changing the verbage and then they will have to be two readings before it can go into effect.
Ryan Solee gave his police report. There were 41 total records; Alarm 1; Animal Related 2; Assist Other Agency 1; Disorderly 1; Disturbance 7; Domestic 1; Harassment 2; Information Only 3; Medical 7; Motor Vehicle Crash. Damage 1; Property Damage 1; Suicide Related 1; Suspicious Activity, Civil Complaint 1; Theft 2; Traffic Complaint 1; Traffic Stop 5; Transport 1; Welfare Check 3.
Adam Krog, Clearbrook Fire Chief gave his report. There were 14 calls in July including 11 Medical; 1 Meeting; 1 Vehicle Accident and 1 Canceled in Route.
They have approved Aaron Pankratz from six month probationary status to full time member of the department.
The fundraising date has been set for their annual fall banquet for October 14, 2023.
They would also like to sell the old ambulance. The transmission is not great and they are not comfortable to have it in service. The council approved to have them put it on the auction block.
Mark Snoble and Nick Rankin gave the maintenance report. There were 3 or 4 storm sewers that need work. Johnson Jet Line were in Clearbrook to clean the sewer lines. There are more dead trees that have to be cut down at the park.
Ryan Solee gave the pool update. The end of the season is set for Friday, August 25. They are making adjustments for the open swim.
City Clerk Lucie Thompson gave her report. They approved the pay application #14. The terms on the Field Agreement with the Clearbrook-Gonvick School at Kloster Park was set to be renewed each year.
Building Permit for Roxanne Dahlke to put up a fence was approved.
Resolution for donations for June 2023 was approved to purchase bikes for Summerfest Bike Giveaway with $100 from Beth and Greg Erickson; $500 from Jacobson Auto Body; $500 from Border Bank and $100 from K&K's Cafe.
Monthly Claims were paid for a total of $92,785.95 and $119,309.65 for Additional Claims.
