Sam Lavin last Saturday night at the opening game for the Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears. Lavin plays as a Quarter Back and Running Back. Last year he led the team in rushing (958 yards) and passing (45-of-86, 597 yards). Saturday night he had a quarterback keeper and went in for the touchdown. Looking for someone to block is Nathaneal Dahl 42.

Bears take season opener 36-12

Saturday Night was a wonderful night for a football game. The Clearbrook-Gonvick Bears faced off with Norman County West which made for a very exciting game. The crowd huddled close to watch the boys play their first game of the season.

The game started out strong with the Bears leading in the first half, Norman County West gave a good effort but the Bears weren’t having it, winning the game 36-12. This season is looking promising for the Bears with returning players seniors Sam Lavin, Luke Burgess, Sawyer Engberg, Hunter Churness, and John West.

A few highlights of the game were Sam Lavin’s 80-yard run and a beautiful interception made in the second half. Clearbrook-Gonvick is defin-itely a team to watch this sea-son especially with players like Sam Lavin who led the team in Rushing and Passing Yards last season and Hunter Churness who is one of the top receivers in the section.
