Clearbrook-Gonvick school board met in regular session on Monday, August 19. The board on the recommendation of Ehlers Public Finance Advisors advised the board on the referendum that will expire in 2025. The original referendum was started in 2016. Minnesota Statutes allows school boards to renew an existing operating referendum one-time for the same term and same amount. The authority of $549.78 per pupil was approved in a December 2014 mail in ballot election for a 10-year term. Due to legislative changes, current authority is $364.09 per pupil. Funding sources have not kept pace with inflation or costs of providing services. The board passed the resolution authorizing the renewal. This would bring in approximately $196,000 for the district.
